This Morning‘s Holly Willoughby has explained the very important reason for not wearing her wedding ring on the show today (March 23).
As the coronavirus pandemic continues, the presenter explained to co-host Phillip Schofield and everyone back home that she’s been taking off the special piece of jewellery to wash her hands so often that she’s just keeping it off for the time being.
Following advice from Dr Ranj Singh for viewers to moisturise after they wash their hands to avoid them becoming “cracked” and “dry”, Holly agreed.
“I’m permanently taking my rings off,” she said. “I keep forgetting to put them back on ‘cos I’m always washing my hands, so I’ve just given up now!”
Holly – who has three children with husband of 13 years Dan Baldwin – added that she couldn’t wait until things had calmed down and she could give her colleagues a cuddle.
“Do you know what, I am really looking forward to that moment just to be able to give you a big hug because it’s the one thing I think we really need right now,” the 39-year-old said. “But we are here and trying to keep you company and lift spirits for people at home.”
Unlike the likes of Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Loose Women and Lorraine, which have all halted production amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, This Morning continues to broadcast after making a number of changes.
Perhaps the most notable difference viewers have spotted was how far Holly and Phil need to sit from one another when they’re on the sofa during the live broadcasts.
“You might notice something a bit different as we are sitting far apart as per government guidelines,” Phil explained.
