Remittance inflow decreases
Remittance inflow has decreased in the first six months of the current fiscal year.
According to details released by the Nepal Rastra Bank on Wednesday, the inflow of remittance has decreased by 5.5 per cent during the period and limited to Rs 468.45 billion.
It had increased by 11.1 per cent during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. The remittance inflow in US dollar has declined by 6.2 per cent and reached Rs 393 billion. It had increased by 6.7 per cent during the previous fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the number of Nepalis acquiring work permit for foreign employment during the period has increased notably and reached 167,513. It had declined by 89 per cent during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Similarly, number of Nepalis acquiring re work permit for foreign employment has increased by 298.1 per cent and reached 130,212 during the review period while it had decreased by 75.5 per cent during the corresponding period of previous fiscal year.
According to the NRB, gross transfer has decreased by 4.9 per cent and reached Rs 523 billion during the review period. It had increased by 8.9 per cent during the correspondent period of the previous fiscal year.
