Govt. committed to promotion of religious and cultural festivals, PM says

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has wished for good health, long life and progress to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of the great festival of Hindu religious community, Maha Shivaratri.

In a message today, the PM said all religious communities observe this festival with due respect though this festival was of Hindus adding that Nepal is ethnically, linguistically, religiously and culturally affluent.

Though every community has its own custom, festival and culture, it is Nepalis’ unique and distinct identity to take ownership by respecting such diversity from all communities and followers of religions. PM Deuba has also said the government was continuously active to transform people’s wishes for peace, development and good-governance while expressing commitment to the protection and promotion of Nepal’s religious and cultural festivals and traditions.

Deuba has stated that the Mahashivaratri, festival of national unity and cultures, would help contribute to deepen mutual unity, goodwill and brotherhood among Nepalis and has become a pillar of national unity.
