EC is internally working for polls preparations, Chief Commissioner says
Chief Election Commissioner of Election Commission (EC) Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said on Tuesday that the EC has already recommended the government to hold the upcoming election to the House of Representatives (HoR) and province assembly in a single phase.
Organizing a news conference in the Capital City, Thapaliya said the EC has recommended to hold the upcoming federal and province assembly polls on November 20. “We are working for internal preparations for polls,” he said adding that e-voting would be held if the government provided equipment for the voting purpose.
On the occasion, Chief Commissioner Thapaliya said that those failing to submit their election expenses incurred in the local level polls would be booked adding that a total of 100,000 candidates out of total 156,000 candidates have not yet furnished the details of their expenses.
As per the election laws, the candidates should furnish their expenses within a month after the election.
Likewise, Thapaliya said the upcoming elections would be less costlier compared to the May 13 local level elections citing less number of ballot papers to be printed. He also hinted at reviewing the number of voting centres in the upcoming polls.
